Brazil’s BTG Pactual says it’s monitoring Digimais news
BTG Pactual issued a clarification on Wednesday, the 24th, following a report by O Estado de São Paulo titled: “BTG should give up on buying Digimais after Federal Police operation.”
On April 8, 2026, BTG Pactual released a market notice informing the signing of documents that set a reference value and certain conditions for the acquisition of all shares of Banco Digimais by BTG Pactual. The process was described as competitive, to be approved and monitored by the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC), and would also consider rules for financial support to Digimais.
The market notice further stated that the completion of the transaction depended, among other conditions, on the launch of the competitive process and, once that process occurred, on the declaration of BTG Pactual’s proposal as the winner.
None of these conditions have been met so far, BTG said.
“BTG Pactual is following the recent news involving Digimais, and when the competitive process approved and monitored by the FGC for the sale of all Digimais shares is eventually launched, it will assess, based on available information, the opportunity to participate in that competitive process,” the bank stated.
The statement comes as the bank responds to market speculation about its interest in the acquisition. The original announcement from April outlined a structured path for the purchase, but the process remains incomplete. The situation involving Digimais continues to develop, with BTG Pactual indicating it will wait for the formal competitive process before making any further decisions.
